LOUD or soft music?
So something I am sure everyone has noticed about people is to whether some like to blast music and be obnoxious with it or just have the volume high enough to hear it. I am one of those people who drive around with all the windows down in the car and the volume extremely loud. Usually my family knows when I am puling in my driveway because they heard music playing. I guess that comes from Djing. Cuz when I am driving around I notice people car-dance or smile or wave or whatever and those are usually people who are my own age or around it. I also get the reaction of the head shake and being yelled at by older people that I am a reckless teenager. I don’t consider my music to be as dangerous as the people who drive and try to yell at me at the same time and end up swerving. Those are the people who are reckless.

haha! I like how you painted a picture of old people yelling and then swerving! it's so true!
ReplyDeleteHaha I can totally see you being the kid with the louddest music. I try to do that sometimes, but it doesn't really work out, cuz my speakers make the sound suck. It's loud, but it sounds annoying. (so I bring it to like a 6... you don't wanna see me when i'm at 10. Now get your s*** we're going to my room!... hopefully you got that)
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking about this last night, driving to class and listening to my obsession of the week (the new album by Kid Cudi). For me, there is no better feeling than driving with the windows down blasting music I like -- the bass, the wind, the motion all comes together so well -- but as I was doing this last night I was thinking about how annoying it would be to me if someone was blasting like house music or soft rock -- music that I don't particularly like. My impulse is like "if someone doesn't like hip hop, they're an idiot and if they don't like it, it's their problem" -- but I know that's not an empathetic, compassionate, or fair way to view the world. So when we blast our music, even if people are wrongly stereotyping us for it, is it really our fault for imposing our music on the rest of the soundscape? Think about someone blasting your least favorite kind of music. Do you think you would be able to grant them their right to do so?
ReplyDeletePass.
