Great Value

So am I the only one noticing that the brand name Great Value is taking over the grocery stores? i looked at the off brand and thought to myself that they couldn’t have been any good, but one day I decided to get a few great value products. I will be honest the only reason I got them was because they are cheaper and I was running low on cash. And surprisingly the products were really actually pretty good! I think that because they don’t have to spend their money on promoting their products, they can spend it on better ingredients and still charge less than the brand name products. I would really suggest, if you like poptarts which who are we kidding, everyone loves poptarts to try the great value poptarts. They are amazing! So u know how the brand name Poptart always have very little filling and it tastes like you are eating just pastry with a tiny bit of filling. Poptart has also started to cut back on the frosting. Well this kind of bugs me, which is why I now get the great value poptarts. They have a ton of frosting on them and they have a lot more filling then the brand name poptarts, which makes them so much better. It doesn’t taste like all breading and very little extra good stuff! Don’t judge me just because I like my poptarts to be sweet and sugar filled :-P but anyway, I was just noticing how this one product could start to basically take over the grocery stores, because if you walk down any isle in the store now you will see at least 2 products in that isle produced by Great Value. And since its so cheap too, me and my family joke how it is a “great value” which also helps the consumer remember the product and have the name get stuck in your head. Maybe it is just me, but I know the brand name is stuck in my head and I sometimes get great value items, not because they are cheap, but because they actually taste better than the other stuff. It is simply a bonus that it is also inexpensive.

This is that commercial for the Power Mat charging system thing. I love this commercial! I saw it on television a few weeks ago and I immediately had to look up the commercial on youtube to watch it again! I love commercials like this. Somehow it clicks with people more I think because it is so out there and unexpected to be seen on television, that people pay more attention remember the product because it was presented so differently than other commercials. I think more commercials should work on shocking people into remembering their product or making the viewer laugh really hard because I think you remember their products better that way. I honestly can only think of 2 commercials right now and it is because they made me laugh so hard! The Budweiser swear jar commercial and this commercial. I don’t remember these commercials because I drink or because I have the power mat thing, but because I laughed my ass off when I saw these commercials.

I have to say I love SNL! They have all kinds of videos which may not have a purpose but that are so damn funny! This is one of those videos which has absolutely no point, but is still so funny! There isn’t much I can say about these videos except that my friends and I quote Jizz in my pants, I’m on a boat, and I threw it on the ground all the time for no reason! These videos are all so pointless but they are so funny! And you can’t say you are not a fan of SNL. Especially with other videos like Dick in a box and all! They take some of the most random things in the world and make then funny. Its amazing!

This video isn’t very funny, or at least I don’t think. But apparently tons of people thought this video was pretty funny and like to quote it. I saw this video once and didn’t really ever watch it again till I was trying to find something to blog about and thought blogging about youtube videos would be cool. So I decided to do that. Now I basically need to blog another hundred words so that then I can blog about the other thing I am going to blog about. I figure to entries of five hundred words each is probably easier than trying to write about the same thing for all one thousand words and then just end up rambling by the end. This video is about Obama and what he would be saying after being in office for a year. It is basically ripping on him that he isn’t doing crap and how he isn’t doing anything for anyone. I am not usually someone who likes to talk about politics or political things, but this video was kind of funny. I am not for or against Obama, so I am just kind of watching this video to laugh. I think its funny how no matter who our president is, we always make fun of him. No matter how smart or how dumb, we find things to mock him about and things he does that is stupid. And we also like to expose these faults because I guess it makes us feel better about our decision or its just to mock others who didn’t vote for what we did. I don’t really know. Well, that’s all I wanted to write about involving youtube and all, so now I guess your gonna have to read my next blog too. :-)

I think all of these ads really catch people’s attention and makes them think a lot about other people they could possibly injure by drinking and driving. We are always told how if u drink and drive, that you could kill someone and/or possibly yourself. But rarely do people say you could just seriously mess up a life forever. The people who only get seriously injured are then forced to deal with seriously obstacles in life, much like the girl in the picture on the left had to. She was beautiful and was happy in life. She had everything under control and then while she was in a friend’s car they were hit by a drunk driver. This is what resulted from her being hit. She was not killed, but instead just seriously injured. This ties in with the middle picture because now after being hit, she can park in that spot, but that isn’t a good thing. Can u even stop to think about that? Every 48 seconds, someone gets hit by a drunk driver. This picture really makes you think about how much driving drunk can affect your life or someone else’s. Even some picture like the last one on the right can send a message to not drink and drive. Although I don’t believe the last picture is nearly as strong as the first 2, but it still sends a message. I think that so many people see these pictures and blow them off because they think they can be safe when driving a little drunk. I actually know an adult who told me he drove drunk once and made it home without any accident or anything. He was so proud of himself and I couldn’t believe him. I was so pissed that he risked something like that and was proud of it. I am always willing to be anyone’s designated driver if they call me because then I know they got home safe and they also didn’t hurt anyone else in the process of driving home. I am so disturbed when others only think about themselves and no one else. i guess I always think twice about driving anytime is because I have diabetes and if my blood sugar is out of control it is hard to control my actions, aka pass out or faint. This happens when my blood sugar is low and sometimes even when it is too high. This makes me worry and also makes me check my blood sugar each time I drive so that I know I will not faint or pass out and have that cause a major issue or accident. in this blog basically I just wanted to analyze these ads and how they affect people and get a message through to you. These ads use pictures and images which is one of the most effective ways to communicate information. Pictures help other understand because they can sometimes resurface a sensitive memory or something which will make them listen and understand where you are coming from. Maybe even a certain song or something being said as this ad comes up can really cause someone to listen and feel what you are saying. I always get hit hard with songs that are tied to sad memories when they are played in commercials.

I have always grown up with dogs in my house and always had a connection with dogs and I don’t really know how to explain it, but having a dog was sometimes the best thing in the world to me because you could talk and pet and sit with relax with and they somehow can calm me down. I don’t want to sound like some freak, but it is true. I don’t think I could make it through life without my baby, Molly. She is a medium sized dog who is about 12 years old. I am not totally sure of her age because my aunt found her on the streets in NYC and gave her to me once she had all her shots and what not. She has been a huge part of my life and even now sitting here thinking of her dying is upsetting and bothersome. She is getting kind of old and turning gray, so I know the day is coming when I may not have her anymore. So when I see people treat other dogs and animals in a bad way or miss treat them, it bothers me. This is why I think this video gets me so much. I believe if you can touch someone sensitive spot in their heart, then you can really get them to listen to you and to take into consideration what you are trying to tell them. I never feel ads are to hurt us in anyway. Ads are simply to inform us of things in the world. Once we learn about them, we can chose to embrace them or to reject them, but I believe ads are meant to be informative and not deceitful. I am not really sure how to analyze these commercials other then tell you what I feel about them. I hope this is how we are supposed to analyze things, but if not, please comment or feel free to text me or tell me in class that I did this completely wrong and looked like an idiot. :-p

random stuff on my mind

I have no idea what I am going to blog about. I guess I will just blog about life and how I cannot wait to go home this coming weekend for fall break. I haven’t seen any of my family since I moved in, beside my older sister who also goes here, and am missing them all like crazy. I never thought I would be home sick but I really am. It is kind of weird! I have never been the type to get home sick. I used to go on basketball trips all over the US and even to Europe for a few weeks in the summer. It was one of the coolest things ever! I loved all the traveling and I almost enjoyed it more than being home because it added change and excitement to my life. When I was at home things were always the same, I knew what the house was like, and I had rules to follow. When we would go on basketball trips we would have a few rules to follow, but for the most part we would do whatever we wanted and I would get to hang with my friends all day long. This was really cool because my best friend, Spencer, was also on the team with me. And now I thought I would love college because it would be like a long trip, but I miss home. I miss all my friends, family, and even neighbors. Is that weird to miss neighbors? I don’t think it is weird because I have been best friends with since they moved in when I was in 6th grade. Anyway, it is weird being home sick after never being home sick all through high school.
I guess the next thing I will talk about will be how serious my health in life is and how I am going to need good health insurance to stay alive. I mean since I have been here at Virginia Tech, I have visited the hospital 3 times and will for a 4th time tom for my final check up. I have run up a huge bill for prescriptions and hospital stays and I am just lucky enough that my insurance finally reached the point where all that stuff is taken care of and I don’t pay a thing when I have to go. I thank God that we got to this point with our insurance before I began having all the problems I have had.
I am only at 427 words and have no idea what I am going to blog about. I am currently laying on the floor of the living room in my sister apartment with her dog, Abby, writing this. I am lay down because I cannot sit and haven’t been able to since Sunday morning. I had a cyst in my lower back, like right above my ass and it is a fucking killer. They had to put me on all kinds of pain killers and numbed my lower back. Then they took a scalpel and had to cut it open and drain it. This hurt like a bitch because when they told me they would numb it, I thought I wouldn’t feel it. Well I was way wrong! I felt it and it hurt! Well after I was all done with that, I went back to my sister’s apartment and fell asleep on her couch due to the amount of medication in my system. I ended up waking up around 7 or 8 or 9, I don’t know really, I don’t remember. So anyway, took more pain medication and ate a small dinner, then I went back to sleep till this morning when I woke up and had to get up and go back to the E.R. which was not going to be fun. While there they drugged me up some more and then had to change the bandages, so they did that. Then they put new bandages on it because it still seems like it wasn’t healed enough not to re-bandage it. So now I have more bandages on it and am again lying on my sister’s floor in pain. And on top of that I have another appointment tom to have it looked at again. Hopefully tom will be the final day I have to go to the E.R. for a good amount of time.
Even after that story I am only at 741 words. Ugh, this is so frustrating when you’re tired and feeling kind of sick. At least Julia let me have another day to do it. Having that time really helped a lot considering I feel asleep on my laptop last night trying to write this but couldn’t stay awake because of the pain killers.
Ok, so what am I going to talk about for 200 more words? I could talk about how I plan on buying some new DJ gear and going back to DJ at one of the biggest dances my high school called SuperDance which is one of the largest fund raisers in the area to find a cure for CFF.
It was funny the other night when my mom, who works at my high school, started texting me from my high school’s homecoming dance saying that the DJ sucked and how he wasn’t playing music that people could dance to and how no one was dancing and he even had dead air time between songs. She said how I should come back and do next years and how I should DJ for this coming years SuperDance. She was surprised by how bad this DJ was and how upset some of the kids were getting and felt bad for them because for the seniors, it is their last, and for the freshman you don’t really want them thinking that’s what homecoming is really like. I am really considering doing it. I tried being a DJ for our school radio, but didn’t like it. It is so different then DJing a party. When I DJ a party, I can chose w/e music I want, play it however I want, and play it whenever I want too. At the stations there were certain songs that had to be played and so you only got to play very little of what u wanted. And you also cannot get instant feedback about a song like you can at a dance. If people go crazy and scream, u did well. But if they kind of stop dancing and stand around, you better start thinking about a new song to switch to as soon as u can.
